One, two, f.r.e.e

*Sigh* It's been awhile since I've been able to step away from life and let you in on my journey. I must first tell you that I've missed you - yep, I have. And now, my nugget of a blog for the day.

Have you ever participated in an exercise called Solarium? To all you Campus Crusaders, I'm sure we can attest to it's awesomeness. Basically a bunch of pictures are spread out on a table or floor, each capturing random things, and you are asked a series of questions then pick pictures to describe your answers. One particular question that is asked if "What do you wish was in your life right now?" and every single time I do this
exercise one of the pictures I choose is one of a girl running in a field with balloons in her hands. What does this represent to me? Freedom.

Why do I desire freedom so much? No, not because I feel my parents are constraining or I feel like I live in a box - certainly not. I desire freedom because it's what I was created to desire but never believed I already had.

In one of my plethora (love that word) of education classes today we watched a video of a little girl counting coins. I love hearing kids of a certain age count because they still kind of have a sort of speech impediment. This little girl started
counting and went "One, two, free, four, five..etc". That little "free" instead of "three" is quite cute. It also reinforces my belief that children know the things of God better then we do because they have enough faith to hold Him. But it kind of hit me with a slap in the face.

This morning during my quiet time I decided to dive deep into the big ocean known as Psalm 119. Verse 45 it says:

"I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts."

Do you know what a precept is? Good 'ole Wikipedia says its an order intended as an authoritative rule of action. Woahhh. How can you be free by following the rules?

Also, how do all of these things fit together?

Simple.

You. Are. Free.

Did you know that you are free? A better question might be - are you living like you are free?
Bold
What I realized from that little girl counting is that we are free in the midst of The Three. I know, cheesy rhyme but true story. When we are fully connected to the Trinity (God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) we are free. We are free because we have been ransomed - we have been paid for so we no longer are bound to the worries, apathy, and death of this world. I know it's hard being in a relationship with people - they require work, time, compromise, sometimes even - changing the way we think and act. Just because God is everywhere doesn't mean we should grow lazy when it comes to running after Him.

Going back to the verse in Psalms, when we are connected to God we desire to live a life pleasing to Him so those so called "rules" become our lifestyles when we walk in them and thus we are able to be free. Make sense? Awesome.

"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. " - 2 Cor. 3:17-18

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Freeeedommm lives inside of you. Bam. Go bounce around in a field with balloons or go smile to a stranger or go succeed on your exam - why?

You are free.
