When God leaves you in Home Depot

Hello world wide web, bloggers, friends, and romans. Oh how I have missed blogging and releasing my inner thoughts and heart. With the help of the cold weather, a heavy heart, and a pumpkin spice latte (plus free wi-fi) I come to you again.

When I was a kid I used to love this time of year because I would help my parents do the fall yard work and go to Home Depot to buy plants and goodies. I remember one time in particular that I was with them at Home Depot walking through the aisles and we passed the paint mixing section. This is a really cool place because you get to see all the paints mixed and poured and it's beautiful to see what the result is. Well as a child I was easily entertained watching things so I got so mesmerized and just stood there for a million minutes (in kid time) and watched. When I finally refocused again I realized I didn't see my parents anywhere. Where did they go? Why did they leave me? Were they even in the store anymore?

That's how I have felt with God before. Along the path where we are walking together I'll stop to look at something but God keeps moving ahead. Where did He go? Why does He leave me?

What is so hard for me to understand is how God can be everywhere at one time and always be near even when I'm far away.

If we are stopping and looking at things along the path God is walking with us and He hasn't instructed us to stop, then we lose sight of Him. It doesn't mean He has left you, it just means you can't see Him anymore.

When I was in Home Depot my parents turned out to still be in the store, they wouldn't leave without me because they love me. It turns out they were just on another aisle and I couldn't see them. [There was something in between my parents and I which wouldn't allow me to see them.] When I couldn't see them I thought they had left me, I felt scared and alone. I could have run around the store screaming and looking for them, but if I hadn't stayed there they would have had a harder time coming back for me and finding me.

When you get distracted from the path God is calling you too and you lose sight of your loving Father, wait for Him to come back for you. He is always with You and will always come back to rescue you because He loves you. Remember that He thinks you precious and worth His Son dying. You are not replaceable in God's eyes and He has not and never will forget you.

When you call out to Him in your place of loneliness and lost-ness, He is saying "I'm coming, wait right there. I'm coming to save you."

"You came near when I called you and you said, "Do not fear." O Lord, you took up my case; You redeemed my life." - Lam 3: 57-58

"But even there, if you seek God, your God, you'll be able to find him if you're serious, looking for him with your whole heart and soul. When troubles come and all these awful things happen to you, in future days you will come back to God, your God, and listen obediently to what he says. God, your God, is above all a compassionate God. In the end he will not abandon you, he won't bring you to ruin, he won't forget the covenant with your ancestors which he swore to them." -Deut 4:29-31 (Message)
